Necklace (djandarkhāl)
Bukhara, Uzbekistan
20th century
Gold, filigree; baroque pearls, tourmalines
L: 42 cm
Purchased through the gift of Baroness Bat Sheba de Rothschild
Accession number: B64.12.4171

Filigree work was apparently adopted locally only at the beginning of the twentieth century. This necklace has a delicate, airy look, in contrast to the massive character of most of the other Bukharan examples.
