The Hebrew inscriptions mention that the shield was donated by Rivka to the local Burial Society so that Yizkor (the memorial prayer) will be said on the High Holidays for generations to come for her late husband Yitzhak and for her, at the end of a long life; the Hebrew year; the Ten Commandments; "Sabbath"
