In the synagogue of the Portuguese community, the calendars for counting the Omer are divided into three rows: one for the day in the Omer (H = homer, Omer in Spanish); one for the number of weeks gone by (S = semanas, “weeks”); and one for the number of days elapsed so far in the week (D = dios, “days”).
