Israel Antiquities Authority
Accession number: IAA 95-3498, 96-390, 95-3521, 95-3507, 95-3519, 96-409,
This hoard, found in a sealed niche inside a well, included more than two hundred household vessels and other objects. The number of identical items supports the assumption that the objects belonged to a merchant. The hoard is outstanding in its variety, containing everything from simple earthenware to luxurious houseware. It sheds light on how homes were illuminated, on cooking and storage methods, and how food was served. Similar items are still used today throughout the Middle East.
