Ofer Lellouche, Israeli, born Tunisia, 1947
Ofer Lellouche was born in Tunisia in 1947. In 1960 his family emigrated to France. In 1966 he immigrated to Israel with his family and settled in Kibbutz Yehiam. His military service was cut short because of hepatitis. During this period he began painting. Between 1971-1969 he studied art at the Avni Institute and at the same time studied French literature at Tel Aviv University. In 1976 he returned to Israel and established his studio inYafo. Between 1971 and 1975, he returned to live in France, where he studied art with the sculptor Cesar and continued his studies in literature. Upon his return to Israel he established a studio in Jaffa. Today Lellouche lives and works in Tel Aviv-Yafo, Beit Yanai and Paris.
Lellouche's work includes sculpture and figurative painting. His figurative sculptures deal with the depiction of the human body, and most of them are fragmented and lacking personal identity. His paintings, many of which are self-portraits, emphasize the universal dimension of man's image. In addition to these works, Lellouche is involved in many different print techniques. Among his prints are landscapes and figures.
