Gilad Ophir, Israeli, was born in 1957.
Gilad Ophir was born in Tel Aviv-Jaffa in 1957. In the first half of the 1980s he studied photography in New York City, USA. His early works dealt with the dissolution and composition of cultural concepts, with reference to the history of art. In the early 1990s he created the series “Cyclopean Walls,” which documented the construction sites of the new neighborhoods of Rishon Letzion. This series was very successful. Between 1996 and 2000, together with Roi Cooper, he created the series of photographs "Necropolis," which displayed targets and other structures at IDF shooting ranges. His photographs from the 2000s onwards document urban landscapes and surfaces.
