Michel Optovski, Israeli, Born in France 1947-2004.
Michel Optovski was born in 1947 to holocaust survivor parents in a displaced persons camp. He grew up in Toulouse, France. In 1964 he immigrated to Israel. He studied law in the hebrew university. In 1972 he quit his studies and joined the “Third Eye” group. In 1971 he opened a record shop in Tel Aviv-Yafo that specialised in alternative music. Between 1973-1978 he lived outside of Israel. In the year of his return he directed the avant-garde film "Shultz the Terrible" (he: "שולץ האיום"). During the 1980’s he produced independent Fanzine called "Pahad" (fear). He was a graphical editor for different journals. In in 1988 he opened a design studio in partnership with Yehuda Deri. Optrovski worked as a record label graphic designer. In the 1990’s he moved onto working in cartography. His graphic style was based on the punk culture and british american rock. In his artistic creation he continued by designing hebrew typography, still in the british and american punk and rock style, incorporating the kabbalistic style.
