David Reeb, painter, born 1952, Rehovot, Israel. 1980-82 lived in New York.
David Reeb was born in Rechovot, Israel in 1952. Reeb currently lives in Tel Aviv. As a teenager he studied art with Raffi Lavie. He was injured serving in Tzahal during the Yom Kippur war. He studied in Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem, from 1975-1978. Between 1983 and 1990 he taught in a number of art academies, including The Art Workshop in Yavneh and Kalisher School of Art. Later in 2003, he began teaching at the Bezalel Academy, his alma mater.
Most of his one-man exhibitions, beginning in 1979, were held in Tel Aviv although a few were held in museums in Jerusalem and Haifa. His works have also been shown in Ireland, Austria, Germany and Sweden.
Reeb's work is abstract; his later works include additional layers of paint onto his canvases and photographs. Some of the exhibitions in which he participated were politically motivated. Well-known works include "The Green Line" (1985-1986) and two drawings entitled "Camel Time" (1989).
