March 2018

Dear Friends,

We are pleased to invite you to the 2018 Israel Museum International Council which will take place from the morning of Sunday, June 3, through the evening of Wednesday, June 6.

This year's Council theme – Reflect, Connect, Create – will recognize the 70th anniversary of the State of Israel, allowing us to explore and reconnect with our past while looking ahead to the future. This motif will be illuminated through such new exhibitions as Fashion Statements: Decoding Israeli Dress; a major retrospective exhibition of renowned contemporary French artist Christian Boltanski; and two special exhibitions marking 70 years since the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls, all of which will open in honor of the International Council. Above all, this will be an opportunity for you to meet our new Director, Professor Ido Bruno, and welcome him into the Israel Museum international family.

During this year's Council, we will enjoy curator-led tours of current exhibitions; behind-the-scenes workshops with artists and professional staff; in-depth previews and discussions of exciting new acquisitions in our collections; and our traditional Honorary Fellowship ceremony, Gala evening, and closing Surprise Venue Dinner. There will of course also be ample time to meet, connect, and reconnect with Museum friends, management, and professional staff, both old and new.

This year's program will also feature special activities for our growing circle of next-generation friends, including a specially tailored post-Council trip to northern Israel for our Young Associates group. Details of the program will follow in due course.

We look forward to welcoming you in June to Jerusalem and to the Museum for what promises to be another stimulating, exciting, and enriching International Council.
