The center of the plate is decorated with an embossed medallion depicting the biblical scene in which the spies “. . . cut down a branch with a single cluster of grapes – it had to be borne on a carrying frame by two of them . . .” (Numbers 13:23). A row of menorahs encircles the central scene.
